The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day of the year. To celebrate, Temple Cycles is hosting a ride to Stanton Drew Stone Circle, where pagans still celebrate this ancient festival as the beginning of the return of the light, followed by a yoga session and communal brunch.
The ride is 15 kilometres each way on road and cycleway, taking you through country lanes from Long Ashton to the quaint village of Stanton Drew.
We will spend some time at the stone circle with a cup of something warming and a bite to eat while watching the sunrise, before our yoga session hosted by Wen Yee Kok in Stanton Drew village hall.
The session will be a candlelit 60-minute mindful flow followed by a 30-minute ritual in line with the theme of the Winter Solstice – a time of renewal and hope.
We’ll then be treated to a seasonal brunch and hot drinks made by Maisie Walker. There will then be the option to join us at the Druid Arms village pub.
